Senior Hardware Test Engineer

In this role, you will
- Develop and implement test methodologies for verifying and validating the hardware operation of complex systems.
- Collaborate directly with Aurora’s Hardware (HW) and Software (SW) Embedded design engineering teams to create validation test plans, procedures, and reports.
- Plan, evaluate, and procure necessary test equipment for laboratory validation work.
- Perform electrical, functional, and characterization measurements at component, board, and system levels.
- Set up test beds and deploy automated scripts/software for system testing, data analysis, and report generation.
- Investigate failure root causes and contribute to product improvements.
- Support the hardware design team with bring-up, experiments/evaluations, and measurements.
- Present and document test reports and plans, and review schematics and HW architecture.
- Set up test racks with networking on Linux-based operating systems.
Required Qualifications
- BS or MS in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
- Extensive experience in testing, analyzing, or designing electrical systems.
- Experience with testing and characterizing communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, UART, and MDIO.
- Proficiency in using lab equipment, including oscilloscopes, electronic loads, VNAs, TDRs, and spectrum analyzers.
- Strong knowledge of Electrical Engineering fundamentals.
- Experience working in a Linux environment.
- Ability to set up test stations with network configurations.
- Extensive experience in hardware troubleshooting and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA).
- Knowledge of shell scripting and Python.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Desirable Qualifications
- Experience with Lidar HW design and/or testing.
- Experience with ISO16750-2 testing.
- Proven experience in the product lifecycle development process from concept to production.
- Project management of complex systems.
- Familiarity with EE design tools, such as schematic capture and layout software.
- Experience in designing and prototyping test boards.
The base salary range for this position is $127,000 - $204,000 per year. Aurora’s pay ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, the successful candidate’s starting base pay will be determined based on factors including job-related skills, experience, qualifications, relevant education or training, and market conditions. These ranges may be modified in the future. The successful candidate will also be eligible for an annual bonus, equity compensation, and benefits.
